InvestorsObserver, a financial analysis company, surveyed over 1,000 experienced U.S. individual investors ages 35–60 with portfolios valued at $500,000 or more, and found that 64% of experienced individual investors don’t use AI chatbots for investment advice.

Moreover, many of them wouldn’t let AI handle any financial tasks at all, with 19% expressing zero trust across the board – from stock picking to budgeting or retirement planning.

This usage rate among individual U.S. investors contrasts with global research which shows that AI use in retail investing is climbing fast. For example, eToro reports that AI tool usage among retail investors has jumped 46% in one year, with Gen Z investors showing some of the highest uptake, with roughly 7 in 10 already using AI tools for investing.
