Buffett steps down – the end of an era

It’s hard to imagine the company maintaining its allure, even if it continues to perform well. His successor is unlikely to replicate the gift of dispensing folksy wisdom in the same way – without the man himself it becomes just another conglomerate really, at least over time. His lessons on investment remain timeless of course, though Berkshire’s size meant it could do things in a way few others could contemplate. The world of investment will be poorer for Buffett’s departure, and Berkshire’s importance will recede along with the shadow of the great man.”
